Hi, I’m Gabe Olano, and I serve as Director of Engineering here at RingLogix. My team is responsible for keeping our UCaaS and VoIP platform reliable, scalable, and secure. I’ve spent over 20 years in telecom and IT, leading network operations, systems engineering, and VoIP platforms across Florida and beyond. Today, I want to give you an inside look at what my team is doing to ensure resilience, security, and compliance in an industry that’s evolving quickly.
If you’ve been following the news, you may have seen that the FCC recently removed 184 carriers from its database for non-compliance. That’s a big deal—and a reminder of how critical compliance is in our space.
At RingLogix, we take regulatory compliance seriously. That means staying closely aligned with FCC guidelines and industry requirements like STIR/SHAKEN, robocall mitigation, and carrier registration. We’ve built regular reviews into our processes so we’re not just reacting to changes, but anticipating them.
The goal is simple: partners should never have to worry about compliance issues disrupting their business. Our job is to handle that in the background so you can stay focused on your customers.
Compliance is only part of the picture. The real question is: how do we protect partners and their customers from fraud, scams, and intrusions?
Here’s what we do:
This layered approach gives our partners confidence that fraud attempts are detected and stopped before they ever reach end customers.
I expect the regulatory environment to get even tougher over the next 12–24 months. The FCC is putting more focus on consumer protection, which means stricter enforcement of STIR/SHAKEN, expanded robocall mitigation, and closer scrutiny of carrier registration.
And with AI entering the picture, we’ll likely see brand new types of abuse attempts that go beyond traditional telecom fraud. That’s why we’re not just focused on compliance—we’re focused on agility. Our team is preparing to adapt quickly, so our partners always have the tools and safeguards they need to stay ahead.
Leading the engineering team at RingLogix is rewarding because of the people. I’m most passionate about watching the team mature and solve problems that once seemed impossible.
Recently, I was especially proud of how our group tackled multiple complex projects simultaneously. Seeing everyone push through and deliver was a clear reminder of what we’re capable of.
And outside of work? You might find me camping, tinkering with vintage computers, or working on cars. Those hobbies recharge me and often give me new ways of thinking when I come back to engineering challenges.
Security and compliance aren’t just checkboxes—they’re the foundation of partner trust. At RingLogix, my team is committed to staying vigilant, resilient, and ahead of what’s next, so that our partners can keep delivering reliable, high-value services to their customers.
